Architectural Competition

Our study area is a plot in the center of the city of Xanthi, which today operates mainly as a public passage and is located between two shopping streets and a pedestrian street. One of the main features of the plot is the fact that it has no open front to the street, but on the contrary is surrounded by apartment buildings and shops, which on the one hand isolate the area visually, but at the same time create a sense of calm, as they “absorb” the noise and noise from the intense rhythms of everyday life.

The proposal belongs to the category of pocket parks (pocketparks) and is about 1,300 sq.m. The basic idea is to create a single urban space, which however is divided into areas – “outdoor units” of different qualities and activities. More specifically, the
following are suggested:
A. “square” (plaza),
B. “room” (greenroom),
C. nature – micro-landscape
